FAQ
How regularly should my scooter be serviced?
This is a good question as the manufacturers recommendations will generally not consider our city traffic density and riding environment. Generally with hot climate and higher engine hours for distance travelled here, we service our rental fleet every 1500km to ensure reliability.
What should my tyre pressures be?
This is a good question and the least correctly maintained aspect of most local motorcycles. For scooters we set 33psi front and 36psi rear and happy to set that free of charge for you anytime. If you get air elsewhere drop by so we can check it. Most likely it will be dangerously over inflated.
Is there anything I should check myself between services?
Generally no, a regularly and correctly maintained scooter should remain safe and reliable between services. If anything changes though drop by to have it checked. For example, a slow starting bike indicates a battery getting tired or a semi blocked air intake. Any change in handling generally indicates a punctured tyre deflating. Either is an easy fix done timely but will become unsafe or expensive if unaddressed.
What does a motorcycle service include?
Most local shops simply change the engine oil and that is considered a service. This is certainly not adequate for ongoing safety and reliability. Transmission or drive line, air intake, electrical, tyre condition/pressure and brakes all need to be checked. We have a detailed check sheet to ensure nothing is missed.
How often should I change my automatic transmission oil?
We recommend with each second engine oil change or anytime after you have ridden though flood water. If water through the transmission breather contaminates the transmission oil, reliability is compromised and expensive to repair damage is likely. The oil change is very cheap, so is very good insurance.
